This report by Ukrainian Heklsinki Human Rights Union deals with the impunity around attacks on press freedom in areas affected by the “anti-terror operations” (ATO) in eastern Ukraine.
During the last year, attacks on journalists and media workers have increased dramatically. Five journalists and two media assistants were killed, many other cases in which journalists were kept from doing their job, often by force, were registered. Armed separatist groups and ukrainian military forces are responsible for these incidents alike, without having to be afraid of consequences.
